We believe that quality early childhood education is the basis for a life of economic freedom. In fact, we believe that early childhood is the most critical stage for children’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development.
Child development research tells us that children of this age:
Think concretely, not abstractly.
Learn through their senses.
Strive for independence.
Do not yet understand that others have rights.
In this area of focus we want to fund projects that result in opportunities for children ages birth through five to develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually.
Among our priorities in the area of Early Childhood Development are:
Supporting parents in their role as their child’s first and best teacher.
Putting child development principles into practice in homes, childcare centers and early education environments.
Building early childhood programs’ ability to support children’s development.
Increasing community involvement in the development of children ages birth to five.
