Dekko Foundation Grant Seeking 101
Tips for requesting a grant from the Dekko Foundation.
Here are some ideas to guide you on a first grant request to the Dekko Foundation.
- Visit our web site and read through the information for grant seekers. You may also call our office (260-347-1278) and request that information in a printed format.
- If you still have questions after you’ve read through our guidelines, call the Foundation and ask to speak to our program officer. It is our pleasure to discuss ideas or questions.
- Check out the Promising Projects section of our web site. This section contains a listing of high-potential grants that the Dekko Foundation has already made. It is a great resource for grant seekers.
- Write a brief summary of your project. Include the information listed on our web site or in our printed information. Bullet points are good. Try to make sure that you’ve included all of the information that we’ve requested. That way, we’ll be able to get to work on your grant request right away.
- Please send only one copy of your request. We’ll make more if we need them.
- Make sure that your grant request gets to the Foundation 90 days before you need an answer.
- Be prepared for a site visit. Our program officer will visit with you to understand more about your organization and the project that you have proposed.
- See Steps in the Dekko Foundation’s Grant Review Process to understand how a grant request flows through our organization.
- Check out our Glossary of Philanthropic Terms to better understand the words involved in the grantmaking field.
Remember, one size DOES NOT fit all! Please understand that the ideas here relate specifically to the Dekko Foundation. If you decide to apply to other foundations, you will want to acquaint yourself with their procedures.
