Early Childhood Development
(Birth through Age Five)

We believe that quality early childhood education is the basis for a life of economic freedom. In fact, we believe that early childhood is the most critical stage for children’s social, emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development.

Child development research tells us that children of this age:

• Think concretely, not abstractly.
• Learn through their senses.
• Strive for independence.
• Do not yet understand that others have rights.

In this area of focus we want to fund projects that result in opportunities for children ages birth through five to develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually.

In the area of Early Childhood Development we want to invest in the following results:

• Increase the number of parents who are prepared to fulfill their role as their child’s first and best teacher.
• Increase the number of homes, childcare centers and preschools that are prepared to put child development principles into practice.
• Increase early childhood programs’ ability to support child development.
• Increase community involvement in the development of children ages birth to five.
