Philanthropy is necessary in economically free communities because it provides an infrastructure for the development of personal independence. Because philanthropy is a learned skill, we don’t leave its development to chance. Instead, we work through community leaders and organizations to empower young people as they develop philanthropic leadership skills.
Our vision for Youth Pods is to help young people:
- Discover the power of their time, talent and treasure.
- Learn to effectively manage and govern a nonprofit organization.
- Play a meaningful and respected role in community development.
- Work alongside adults to address community issues.
There is a Youth Pod in each of the Foundation’s Alabama, Indiana and Iowa grantmaking areas.
