Ready to apply? Here's how:
- Make sure that your organization serves young people within our grantmaking areas. Those areas are: In Alabama—Limestone County. In Indiana—DeKalb, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben and Whitley Counties. In Iowa—Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold and Union Counties. In Minnesota—the Community of Ada.
- Contact us if you’re not sure that you are a youth-serving organization or if you haven’t received a grant from us in the past.
- Work with your board of directors to determine the organizational problem you are trying to solve. Typically Nonprofit Toolbelt Grants pay for:
- Education: Board or staff needs information to do their job well.
- Consulting: Board or staff needs an experienced guide to help with a specific initiative or problem.
- Meet with two or more providers of the type of assistance you need. Receive a quote for their services. Decide which of the providers fits your organization.
- Submit a brief request to the Dekko Foundation asking for Nonprofit Toolbelt support. Include the following:
- Statement of the problem that you want to address.
- Objectives that you expect to accomplish by working with a professional. (Sample objectives might be: the completion of a strategic plan, the development of a marketing plan, or understanding the feasibility of a new venture.)
- Timeline for completion of your consultation or education process.
- Copy of the consultant’s quote for services.*
* In situations where we are able to make a Nonprofit Toolbelt grant, the youth-serving partner is responsible for choosing
and employing the consultant and holding him/her responsible for accomplishing the objectives of the project.
