In fact, you are the best artist ever!%u201dNow let%u2019s talk about WHAT MIGHT BE in that classroom.%u00bbYou%u2019ll see: Teachers focusing on learning goals, rather than grades or rewards. %u00bbYou%u2019ll notice that teacher evaluation is invisible to children. Teachers make matter of fact statements. Student: %u201cTeacher, do you like my picture?%u201d Teacher:%u201cYou must have worked very hard on this! Do YOU like your picture?%u201d %u00bbYou%u2019ll see children provided with opportunities to develop responsibility and independence.%u00bbYou%u2019ll hear limited praise: %u201cThank you for helping me. You made my work much easier.%u201d%u00bbYou%u2019ll watch the teacher encouraging peer learning and cooperation without competition or comparison.37
