Why is it important to create order and support children%u2019s fulfillment in your classroom? Let us offer a comparison. High on the list of frustrating experiences for adults is that quick trip to the grocery store to get five things THE DAY after the store has completed its renovation. Translation: THE DAY after they have moved absolutely everything. Now, the Eggbeaters are where the eggplant was a week ago and the hand cream and the whipping cream are who-knows-where. Rather than going forward with the cooking you were excited about, after an exasperating hunt for your groceries, you lose focus and visit a drive-thru on the way home. When it comes to order, children are much like adults. It is calming for them to know where to find things, how to use them and what to do with them when they are done. Respect for order creates creativity and focus and leads to fulfillment.Want research to back it up?Children who live in homes that are neat and orderly have been shown to do better on tests that require them to think and analyze information. Studies of human memory have shown that people learn better when information is presented in an organized way, as opposed to random arrangement. Living in a noisy home has been shown to be a predictor of learning challenges in children.IDEA212
