Simple shelves with uncluttered displays of learning materials are great first steps toward classroom order. Soft music and carpeting subtly add to the positive learning environment.Offer several learning choices; then remove other things that might disrupt the learning.You%u2019ll cut down on visible distractions in your classroom! When you want to teach a specific lesson, isolate the concept you want the children to learn and remove anything that detracts from it. Say you want to teach counting from 1 to 10. The materials available for the children to use are a set of cards numbered from 1 to 10 and a set of ten little trucks. As you watch the children use the materials you notice that rather than using the trucks for counting, the children are driving them around the table. You realize then, that next time you%u2019ll want to offer the children less distracting things, like beads, stones or bingo chips, to count.Start and end the day by briefly telling children what%u2019s next. %u201cToday we are going to learnhow maple trees give us maple syrup.
